Cats purr because it shows that they are happy.Cats purr when being petted,fed,and loved.Petting helps the cats fur by keeping it clean and getting the shedded fur out.They also purr when they are having cat play fights or when being played with. Did you kknow:Small cats are the only cats that purr big cats such as lions,tigers,cheetahs,lynx,leopards,mountain lions, and many more do not purr.
